I remember looking for lyrics to write a new song. We were in the middle of a tour around England and had Daniel Ivancea (of Fanfare Ciocarlia) as a special guest in the line-up, so decided to look there. I wrote down a few conversations I heard him have with other people after our shows, took some sentences, re-arranged them, and filled in the blanks myself. This became the song “Beautiful Patterns”
However, I wanted to make this into a dance song, but it didn’t work well as a dance song. After a few attempts, I just gave up and forgot about it. A few weeks later our guitarist Davide forwarded me a new arrangement he had done of this piece – the one you hear here now. I loved it, and decided to bring it back into the band’s repertoire. The track became part of a 2013 album that we never released.
For those that don’t know, Davide passed away in late 2013 from multiple myeloma. He was only 30 years old.
Looking back at this track, I hear it as Davide’s soundtrack.
We met with DJ Ritu at ResonanceFM (A World in London) where we talked about Davide, and a few other things:
